Smoke and Fire #3
In March, 2018 I took a three-day workshop with abstract painter, Sara Post in Davis, CA so that I could explore my curiosity about the combination abstract oil painting and cold wax medium. I found that working abstractly allowed a portal into my internal state just out of awareness. The process of taking the risk to start a painting opened up areas of inquiry, mistakes became new pathways, the unknown revealed itself in unexpected ways.
This painting, the third in a series, was created in 2019 at a time when the northern California air had been saturated with smoke from fires near and far away.
On exhibit at Art Works Downtown, 1337 Fourth Street, San Rafael, CA 94901 from June 2 through July 22, 2023.
